Is this camp safe for my student?

Yes. Student safety — physically, emotionally, and spiritually — is a top priority.

  • All adult leaders and chaperones undergo background checks
  • Adult supervision is present in dorms and throughout all activities
  • A medical volunteer will be on site during the camp
  • Structured daily schedules and guided sessions
  • Staff remain on-site for the full duration of camp

Students are never left alone during immersive or high-impact experiences.

What is the “Underground Church Simulation”?

The Underground Church Simulation is a supervised, educational experience designed to help students understand what life can be like for Christians in restricted countries such as China.

During certain scheduled sessions:

  • Students will meet in smaller “house church” groups
  • Actors portraying authorities may monitor gatherings
  • Bibles or phones may be temporarily “confiscated” as part of the simulation
  • A student leader may be briefly “detained” as part of the scenario

Important reassurances:

  • Actors will not physically touch students
  • Actors will not verbally abuse or intimidate students
  • All scenarios are supervised by trained adult leaders
  • Students are never placed in real danger

The goal is not to scare students, but to help them gain perspective on the seriousness of faith in places where religious freedom is limited.

Will the simulation be emotionally intense?

Day Two includes the most immersive experiences and may feel intense for some students. However, we are very intentional about emotional care.

Every immersive experience is followed by:

  • Guided group debrief sessions
  • Small group “House Church” discussions
  • Prayer and pastoral care
  • Access to adult leaders and counselors

We do not manipulate emotions. Our approach is thoughtful, supervised, and spiritually grounded.

How do you care for students spiritually and emotionally?

We build in daily debriefs and reflection times to help students process what they are learning and experiencing.

Students will have:

  • Fixed small “House Church” groups for discussion and prayer
  • Daily guided debrief sessions
  • Mentorship from adult leaders
  • Prayer support throughout the week

Our goal is spiritual growth, not emotional pressure.

Will my student have access to their phone?

Yes, students will keep their phones during camp, but phone usage will be limited during sessions to encourage focus and engagement.

During the Underground Church Simulation, phones may be temporarily “confiscated” as part of the educational experience.
Staff members will always have phones available for emergency communication.

  • Leaders and staff remain on-site throughout the camp
  • Curfews and nightly check-ins are enforced

Is this camp affiliated with a specific denomination?

Missions Camp: China is a non-denominational, evangelical Christian camp hosted by Anchored International.

Our teaching is rooted in:

  • Biblical authority
  • Historic Christian orthodoxy
  • God’s heart for the nations and the Great Commission

For more information on our beliefs, parents are encouraged to visit the “About Us” section of the Anchored International website.

What is the spiritual goal of this camp?

Our goal is not entertainment — it is discipleship and missions awareness.

We desire for students to:

  • Learn about Chinese culture and context
  • Develop a burden for the lost in China
  • Understand the realities of Christians in underground church settings
  • Grow in spiritual maturity
  • Consider how God may use their lives for the nations

We are believing for students to leave with deeper faith, greater compassion, and a more serious walk with God.

What if my student comes home interested in becoming a missionary?

This is a natural and healthy outcome for some students, and parents should not be alarmed.

Interest in missions is not a sudden life decision — it is usually a slow and thoughtful process that develops over time.

Does a sense of calling mean my child will immediately go overseas?

No. In healthy ministry contexts, a genuine calling to missions happens in baby steps, not sudden decisions.

A typical pathway looks like:

  • Growing in their walk with God at home
  • Serving faithfully in their local church
  • Participating in local outreach
  • Going on short-term mission trips
  • Receiving mentorship and discipleship
  • Prayerful evaluation over time

Long-term overseas missions is rarely the first step. It is usually the result of years of growth, confirmation, and preparation.

How do you handle students who express interest in missions?

We walk with families, not against them.

If a student expresses a serious interest in missions, we:

  • Encourage conversations with parents and pastors
  • Provide mentorship and discipleship
  • Offer a monthly fellowship for those exploring missions
  • Emphasize prayerful discernment over time

We do not pressure students into emotional or impulsive commitments.

Will my student be pushed toward overseas missions?

No. We do not pressure students into making life-altering decisions.

Our role is to:

  • Provide biblical teaching
  • Offer thoughtful guidance
  • Encourage spiritual maturity
  • Help students discern God’s will wisely and patiently

Any sense of calling is approached carefully, prayerfully, and with full respect for the family’s role in the student’s life.

What if my child talks about missions for the first time after camp?

This often means they are:

  • Growing spiritually
  • Developing compassion for the lost
  • Taking their faith more seriously
  • Asking deeper questions about purpose and obedience

Exploring missions does not mean they are making drastic life decisions.

It simply means they are maturing in their faith and awareness of the world.

We promise — it is not as scary as it sounds.

Are scholarships available?

At this time, scholarships are not available.

Registration cost is:

  • Early Bird: $300
  • Regular Registration: $350
