Meet Jerry and Joy Rankin

Jerry and Joy Rankin bring decades of extraordinary experience, wisdom, and passion for global missions to the Anchored team. Jerry, former president of the International Mission Board (IMB), is a towering figure in modern missions. From 1993 to 2010, he led the IMB through an era of transformation, reshaping its focus on reaching unreached people groups and pioneering strategies that continue to impact global evangelism. Before his presidency, Jerry and his late wife, Bobbye, served as missionaries across Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and India, planting churches and discipling believers in areas of tremendous spiritual need.

Post-retirement hasn’t slowed him down. Jerry has remained a prominent voice in the missions community, inspiring others through his speaking, leadership, and influential books such as Spiritual Warfare and The Challenge to Great Commission Obedience. His legacy is defined not only by his leadership at one of the world’s most impactful missions agencies but also by his unwavering commitment to equipping others to follow God’s call.


Joy, his new wife, is a gifted and prolific Bible teacher with a heart for global missions. She has traveled extensively on short-term mission trips, sharing the love of Christ and teaching God's Word in diverse cultural settings. Her vibrant faith and dedication to discipleship perfectly complement Jerry's visionary leadership.


Together, Jerry and Joy have joined the Anchored team to prepare and empower the next generation of gospel workers. With their exceptional experience, deep well of wisdom, and an extensive global network, they are passionately committed to equipping disciples to fulfill the Great Commission. Whether teaching, training, or simply walking alongside others, the Rankins embody a steadfast belief in seeing God's Kingdom advanced to the very ends of the earth.
