J & Susan Taliaferro
Founders | Anchored International
J and Susan Taliaferro are veteran missionaries, church planters, trainers, and missional leaders with over 22 years of global ministry experience through the International Mission Board (IMB). Their journey began as singles — Jeremy among the Ashéninka people along the Apurucayali River in the Amazon Basin, and Susan in Israel for two years — before God brought their paths together and launched them into decades of frontline ministry.
Together, they pioneered the Xtreme Team in South America, a bold initiative that successfully engaged 26 previously unreached people groups in just eight years. Their ministry has taken them deep into the Amazon and Andes, training and mobilizing missionaries from diverse cultural and denominational backgrounds, and planting churches among some of the most remote indigenous tribes in the world.
Their calling later led them to Africa, where they spearheaded church planting movements among unreached tribes, launched the Echelon Team in Uganda and South Sudan, and served on the frontlines of war zones and refugee crises. In response to a rapidly growing refugee population, they founded the Borderlands Team, followed by Borderlands Co-op — a creative missional business featuring a restaurant, coffee shop, co-working space, and ministry hub, built in partnership with both secular organizations and mission agencies.
Now, as the founders of Anchored International, Jeremy and Susan are investing their experience into training, mentoring, and caring for missionaries around the world. Their passion for this work is fueled by firsthand awareness of the challenges missionaries face — and a conviction that with the right preparation and support, missionaries can thrive and stay the course.
